体坛英语资讯:Beckham to rejoin Galaxy after match in Italy

Galaxy midfielder David Beckham will soon be heading back to Los Angeles from Italy, according to local media reports on Sunday. Beckham played 81 minutes of AC Milan's last game of the Italian season earlier in the day, helping his team earn a 2-0 road win over Fiorentina in Florence.

Beckham returns to Los Angeles in July to rejoin the Galaxy, who have earned just one victory out of 11 matches so far this season in Major League Soccer (MLS).

"Now I go back to Los Angeles for the end of the season and then we will we see what happens," Beckham said in remarks published by Sky Sports News. "Still, I hope to come back soon. My thanks go to everybody."

Beckham told the Los Angeles Times earlier that he expects to be back with the Galaxy by July 11.

Where Beckham goes at the end of this MLS season remains to be seen. In the meantime he says he is ready to return to Major League Soccer.

"I'm excited about it," Beckham told The Times.

"I'm really looking forward to it. I've been in Milan six months and I've enjoyed my time immensely. But I've always said, and I always will say, that I am committed to MLS and to the Galaxy, no matter what anyone says."

Beckham paid "a huge sum" out of his own pocket to stay with AC Milan up to today, and MLS says it received 10 million dollars for the loan extension through the end of the Italian season, The Times reported.

The veteran midfielder has tried to justify playing in Europe -- even while contracted to the Galaxy -- to increase his chances of being selected for England's national team and to help his country qualify for World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
